Is Anyone Having Trouble Accessing Gmail?

For the past day or so I’ve been unable to access the Gmail main website even though I can still access it via email apps (or the mobile site) on my tablets. Has anyone else seen this issue?

Speaking of email apps, I’m coming to loath the very idea. Both the stock Android email app and Google’s official Gmail app leave much to be desired. Can anyone suggest a decent alternative?

Right now I’m so desperate that I’m willing to pay for the app, it’s that bad.

It’s working OK for me.

If you use Boomerang by any chance it seems they are having some issues. I turned the extension off and my Gmail appears to have returned to normal.

Regarding email apps in general, it took me a long time to switch from Outlook to the web Gmail app but I never looked back. What functionality in particular are you missing?

Drafts and sent emails aren’t synced from the app to the email server. Also, deleted emails aren’t actually deleted. they’re put in a "deleted" folder in the email server, not the trash. There’s a bunch of little things like that.

Hm… Sounds like a setup issue of some kind. I am using the Android Gmail app and if I start typing an email (or Save) it shows up in Drafts on the web within seconds. Anything I delete on the phone goes to Trash on the web.

It sounds like you are using an IMAP client (perhaps the generic Android email app) with incorrect settings. Have you had a look a this?

The stock one is an imaps client, yes, but the official Gmail app I downloaded from Google Play behaves and looks much the same.

G-mail is constantly telling me my password is wrong. Forcing me to go thru the whole bit of retrieving it. I am glad I have another address to use so I dont have to rely on G-mail. What a pain.

No problems on my end. My son uses Swallow for email and raves about the app. Might be worth a try. I’d be happy to put you in touch.

Been working fine for me, although I haven’t tried to access it yet from my rooted Nook Color.

Gmail is working fine on the Toshiba laptop and Nook Tablet. Drafts and Sent synchronize instantly. Lots easier to empty the Trash here than on my RoadRunner account.

Weird. I just tried to open Gmail in another tab and it’s still not working for me.

I prefer desktop Gmail, so I always access it in a mode that works very nicely on Kindle Fire and somewhat ok on e-Ink devices.

If you want to know where a bit.ly shortcut goes before using it, put a "+" after the shortcut.

Once you’re on that page, opt to SAVE the 'BasicHtml' mode so that you can just type 'gmail.com' into the location field and still be taken into this mode (sometimes faster than looking for the bookmark).
