OLPC XO-4 Clears the FCC

OLPC XO-4 Clears the FCC e-Reading Hardware Education OLPC's latest laptop showed up on the FCC website today.  Unfortunately there's not much to tell you about the device because pretty much everything of interest (internal and external photos) has been kept offline at the request of OLPC and won't be revealed until August 2013.

OLPC has been teasing us with this tablet for some time now so there really isn't much left to the imagination.

I've covered this device several times in the past and can report that the listed specs show that this tablet is running on a dual core Marvell PXA2128 1GHz CPU with either 1GB or 2GB of RAM, and 4GB of storage. Aside form the IR touchscreen the rest of the specs are largely the same as on the first XO-1 laptop. All the models use the same basic shell and the same 8.5" Pixel Qi sunlight readable screen that shipped with the original XO-1 five years ago.

The XO-4 is expected to start shipping later this year.

Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader:"I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
