Mysterious New Dual-Screen Android Tablet Coming Soon?

BIGHere’s a fun gadget that we’ll probably never see on the market.

I was looking over the Gajah website last night, trying to find more info on the E-ink smartphone cases they are going to debut this week at Computex, when I came across a gadget I had not seen before. Nestled in among the ereaders, tablets, and mobile devices was a dual-screen Android tablet.

It’s the BK7012, and it has a pair of 7″ screens. I don’t have much in the way of information about it, unfortunately, but that doesn’t make me want it any less.

BIGAccording to the product listing, this tablet is running Android 2.3 on a Cortex A8 CPU. The screens have a rather disappointing resolution of 800×480 as well as a 2-point resistive touchscreen. There are no details on  the storage, but I would expect that this tablet probably has a microSD card slot as well as speakers, a headphone jack,  and Wifi.

I don’t have info yet on when this model was originally designed, but it is running an old version Android. That suggests that this tablet could be a year to 18 months old. On the other hand I am familiar with this company’s products and this is the first time I have seen this particular tablet.

Assuming it hits the market, would you get one? I might, but it would depend on the price and the final specs. If the price is too high then even the unusual dual screens might not be worth getting.

I think a dual screen laptop or tablet is an awesome concept. The Acer Iconia Touchbook
was a great concept, just way too heavy.

Particularly with the swipe capabilities of Windows 8, a dual screen would sell like hotcakes.
