Slow Feeds Updated With New Support for BazQux Reader

slow feedsHere’s another iOS app update for today.

Slow Feeds, which would best be described as not your average feed reader app, got an update today. Today’s update includes new support for my preferred news reader, BazQux, as well as a few bug fixes. You can find the app in iTunes.

While most apps offer a way to quickly scan and read a large quantity of blog posts, Slow Feeds is instead focused on offering alternate methods for browsing your content. It shows you content in several different ways:

  • Slow Feeds: All slowly updated feeds, i.e. low-frequency blogs.
  • High Volume: Everything not in "Slow Feeds", i.e. high-frequency blogs and large news sites
  • Hot Links: A consolidation of where your feeds' recent articles most frequently link to
  • Images: A gallery containing all images in your feeds' articles

I have not had a chance to use Slow Feeds just yet, but it is on my to-do list for today. I am still a little confused on how and why of this app so I plan to wait until after I’ve spent some time with it before I say more. You can check the website for more info.

All I can say at this point is that Slow Feeds costs $3, and that it works with Feed Wrangler, Feedbin, FeedHQ, Feedly, NewsBlur, and Bazqux.

Changelog:

* Added support for BazQux Reader.
* Prolonged NewsBlur sync for more items.
* Fixed: Incoming items weren’t added immediately while looking at article during sync.
* Fixed: Status wasn’t correctly hidden sometimes.

I found it to be quite interesting app. It gives you another angle on your feeds.

It’s not for reading everything (no feed/folder selection). But it allows you to find most interesting content from either rarely updated feeds or hot links section.

Yes. It has potential as a discovery tool or as a way to make sure you don’t miss the rarely updated blogs.

Hot links feature is interesting too. Sometimes there are news that are mentioned by many blogs. Hot links allows to quickly find these "hot" news (and to mark them all read at once if you tap and hold hot link).
