Ematic Launches Their First $99 Quad-Core Android Tablet

EGQ307 ematic android tabletIt’s been just over a month since Ematic unveiled their last new tablet so I was not at all surprised today to learn that they were announcing another tablet.

At first glance the EGQ307 is Ematic’s best tablet to date with its quad-core CPU and $99 price tag, but if the rest of the marginally passable specs are any indication then I don’t expect this tablet to be any better than Ematic’s last tablet, a 7″ model that had disappointing battery life.

The EGQ307 is running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean on an unnamed 1.5GHz quad-core CPU. It has 1GB of RAM, 8GB Flash storage, a microSD card slot, and Wifi. It also has a 7″ screen with a resolution of 1024 x 600.

All in all that’s not a bad start on the specs, but this is a $99 so corners had to be cut somewhere in order to make that price point. That’s why this tablet has only a single camera, a VGA webcam. There’s also just a single speaker on the back. It also has a microphone, g-sensor, and an HDMI port.

Ematic’s tablets have generally been a crap shoot. Sometimes they’re decent tablets for the price, but others have showed that too many corners had been cut. Which category this tablet will fall into is anyone’s guess.

It’s available now from Walmart and B&H Photo.
