B&N Will Give you a $30 Credit for Your Old Nook

If you’ve been thinking about replacing that old Nook ereader then I have some good news for you. Barnes & Noble just launched a new trade in program for their older ereaders. Bring your Nook 1st Edition, Nook Color, or Nook Tablet in to a B&N store any time between now and 17 January and B&n will give you a $30 off the purchase of a Galaxy Tab Nook.

The offer isn’t good for the Nook Touch (which B&N was still selling as late as the middle of last year), and it would seem to only be good for buying new hardware (in other words the credit can’t simply be applied to your Nook account). But if you’ve been thinking about upgrading your existing Nook device, now would be a good time.

It is a shame that this wasn’t announced last week, though. You could have combined this credit with the Black Friday sale and gotten the Galaxy Tab 4 Nook 7″ for under $100.

For more details on the trade in offer, check out B&N.

Thanks, Steve!

I still have two 16GB Nook Tablets. Once I just leave in my vehicle for spontaneous ereading and Euchre. The other admittedly just gathers dust, but occasionally one of my youngsters will take it along on a car ride or to the doctors office.
I’m swimming in tablets, 11 of the damn things for a family of 5, but would still have a hard time parting with them for just $30. Its mind blowing what you can get for such low prices these days.
I remember thinking I got a great deal on my first android device, the Pandigital Novel. Think I paid almost $250 and the specs are atrocious by todays standards. But I still have it and it still works when I fire it up once a year just to check on it. Still would make a damn good ereader too!

See, this is why I phrased this post the way I did.

A Nook Tablet is at most only 3 years old, and they were good enough quality that I would fully expect that some were still in use. Even though it came up short in apps and software, that device did have a premium build quality.

true. and of course my Nook Tablets are running CM, so apps are not an issue. the stock software of borderline unusable. but yeah, can’t complain about the hardware or build quality.

$30 bucks is reasonable especially for devices that came out 4 years ago and are now discontinued. Gamestop is giving you zero bucks for it, and best buy is only giving you $5 to $7 for the same two devices. Sell them on ebay for whatever price you want but locked into BN’s garden dont see anyone biting for the color and nook tablet anymore. Didnt amazon also pffer customers a $30 credit for old devices when the kindle fire firdt gen came out. I see no difference here
