iPad Mini Refresh Packs iPad Air 2 Into Smaller Shell

iPad Mini 4Along with the iPhone 6, Apple’s iPad Mini 4 is just one of several iDevices getting an update today.

What’s the iPad Mini 4?

I assume it’s for watching videos, playing games, and checking your email, but we’ll have to wait for user reviews before we can answer that.

What we do know now is that Apple says the new iPad Mini will pack the power of the iPad Air 2 into a smaller shell. It’s keeping the old price of $399 (for the 16GB/Wifi model), and the iPad Mini 2 will stick around as the $279 entry-level budget model.

With a weight of 0.65 pounds, Apple has managed to knock a few ounces off of the iPad Mini 3’s weight (0.73 pounds) without sacrificing battery or performance. They’ve also upgraded the camera to an 8MP sensor, and made other changes, but I am lacking in details.

I’m still waiting for the product page to go live, or for the press release. At this time Apple has not released the specs.

The Mini 4 product page went live after the event yesterday, and has all the specs there.

It is basically the iPad Air 2 in a smaller size.
