Instapaper has updated its Android app with the same annotation features that were added to the iOS app in June. Android users can now highlight text in a saved article and add a note, or they can simply append a note to the text.

The notes and highlights are synced across the Instapaper platform, and can be viewed and edited in Instapaper apps which are logged into the same account.

Changelog for v4.3::

* Add your own comments to highlights or article text
* Easily share your Notes to other services
* Access your notes across all synced devices and on web at www.instapaper.com
* Redesigned save extension with ability to save directly to a folder
* Several other improvements and bug fixes

You can find the Instapaper app in Google Play.

In related news, Pocket released a new version of its iOS app. This update adds a few tweaks to the TTS settings, and it also adds support for the Alex voice option.

Alex is one of the optional voices that Apple offers under the accessibility menu. It’s optional because it requires  around 900MB of space on your iDevice, and it is said to be a high-quality US English voice that delivers natural sounding speech.

Changelog v6.0.2:

  • Adjusted Listen (TTS) voice speed settings
  • Added support for Alex, a high-quality English TTS voice (available as an optional download in your Accessibility settings)
  • Several fixes for managing Site Logins
  • Additional bug fixes and improvements

The app is free in iTunes.
