B&N Leaks the Name of the Next Nook (Again)

Barnes & Noble’s vaunted new website is having more than its share of problems. Two weeks ago it leaked the name of the new Nook, and yesterday the website leaked the name again.

In spite of what some have erroneously reported, we do not have any images of the new Glowlight Plus. Instead what I have for you today is an incomplete version of the media kit page. This is the page where press would download images to use when writing about the Glowlight Plus (only it doesn’t have any images yet).

nppk glowlight plus I found out about the new leak yesterday from a reader (Thanks, Michael!) and I kept mum because I was hoping that B&N might also leak the images.

But now that someone has made the leak public, B&N is probably going to take the page down toot suite. (Drat.)

According to B&N’s FCC filing, the new Nook will have a 6″ screen and Wifi, and will be built by Netronix. It will be a little smaller than the current model, but that is about all we can say at this time.

But don’t worry, we will have more details some time in the next month. And if the new Nook hasn’t launched in that time, please give me a prod and I will go dig shake a few trees and see what falls out.

If the FCC information states that there is a confidentiality agreement until November 16th does this mean that the announcement or release of the new ereader will come after that date?

Nate Hoffelder October 15, 2015 um 11:56 am

That confidentiality agreement means that the FCC is bound to keep B&N’s secrets for 90 days. B&N is not bound by anything and can launch the new Nook any time they want.

What I meant was that if B&N doesn’t launch the new Nook by then, I plan to post the photos that B&N filed with the FCC.
