Amazon Video App for iOS Updated for the iPad Pro, Gains X-Ray

Amazon_Instant_Video_logo[1]Amazon updated their Instant Video app for the iPad and iPhone today with a few long awaited goodies.

The app now (finally) supports the X-Ray feature Amazon launched in 2013. X-Ray gives viewers access to the IMDb listing for the movie or TV show they’re watching, and lets them learn more about the actors in any given scene or trivia about production details and other fascinating minutiae.

The update also adds official support for Apple’s newest tablet, the iPad Pro. That should please the two or three dozen bloggers who own one, as well as the handful of consumers who bought one.

And last but not least, the update adds support for the limited multi-tasking features in iOS9, including picture in picture and Slide Over.

Do you know how you can open a second app in a window by sliding your finger from the right edge of the screen? Before, that didn’t work to well in the app, but now you can have a video playing while you open the other app.

That’s a nice improvement. It’s not a shadow of the multi-tasking features found on Windows, but it’s still better than a kick in the pants.

You can find the app in iTunes.
