There’s a New “Fifty Shades” Book in the Works

Last June Penguin published a fourth installment in the Fifty Shades saga, one which retold the story from the viewpoint of Christian Grey. Now E L James is apparently working on a fifth book.

BookRiot beat me to the news that EL James has posted an excerpt of her next book on Facebook. It’s called Fifty Shades Darker: From Christian’s Point Of View, and has a tentative release date of 2017.

I found the last book, Grey, to be a painfully tedious read, so I am planning to skip this one. How about you?

Not a fan. These books are not good at all.

And didn’t you and several other outlets report that 2016 opened with a rough six months for corporate publishers, with Penguin Random House posting revenue loss of nearly 11% year over year?

I doubt the timing of this announcement is entirely unrelated.

      Heh. Good point.

James is being criticized on Twitter for milking this series, but it’s more likely that the publisher waved a huge check in her face.
