Summer 2017 Amazon Silk Web Browser Update Improves Security

Amazon has just quietly released another unannounced update to its web browser.

Last night my Fire tablet refreshed its web browser with the popup shown in the following screenshot.

Summer 2017 Amazon Silk Web Browser Update Improves Security Amazon Web Browser

If you cannot see the text, it says that Amazon is working with Google to protect users from visiting suspect sites.

When you attempt to go to a suspected malware or phishing site, Silk helps protect you by preventing the site from loading and explaining the potentil threat.

Do you know those bright red splash screen warnings we sometimes see in Chrome or other web browsers?

Those warnings keep you from visiting potentially dangerous sites, and now Silk users will start to see similar warning messages as they browse the web.

Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
