Kindle for Android Updated with Ragged Right Formatting

Earlier this year Amazon gave Kindle owners , Fire tablet owners, and Kindle for iOS users the ability to read their ebooks with a left-aligned text – what is colloquially known as ragged right.

Now Kindle Android users can join the fun.

The latest version of Kindle for Android (v7.14.0.18) mentions just one new feature in the changelog:

You can now read using left-aligned (ragged right) text instead of justified (aligned on both left and right margin). This new alignment option can be selected from the Display Settings (Aa) menu within Kindle books that support Enhanced Typesetting. On the Kindle eBook Store page, look for "Enhanced Typesetting: Enabled" in the features list.

You can see the new alignment option in the screenshot at the top of the post.

The app is available in Google Play.

Fire first and then Kindle Android.

Usually the other way about?

Ugh, what an awful, awful looking page of text.

This is great, if you have a justified book and prefer to read it left-aligned. However, I have a left-aligned book and prefer to read it justified. And there is no option for me. This would have been a trivial addition; why this option does not exist is beyond my understanding.
