There's been no official announcement from Amazon and it's not mentioned on the relevant page on Amazon.com, but it appears Amazon is bringing their burgeoning bookstore chain to Texas and Washington DC.
Update: the new locations are now listed on that page. it's official.
PubLunch noticed that Amazon has a new job listing for a store manager for an Amazon Books location in Austin, Texas. According to the listing, the store is going to be located at Domain Northside, an upscale mall located (I'll give you three guesses) on the north side of Austin.
And while confirming that report, I also discovered that Amazon has a similar job opening for an Amazon Books location in DC. Amazon did not list the specific address, but the posting says the store is located in Georgetown, the same part of DC where we know Amazon has signed a lease for retail space.
I had previously reported that Amazon was going to open a bookstore in a building previously occupied by B&N. This may confirm that report, or it could be unrelated (it is quite possible that Amazon will have two retail locations in DC, and use them for different purposes).
Amazon currently lists 13 Amazon Books locations on its site, including 4 in Calif. as well as two in NY, Mass., and Wash. and single stores in Ill., Oregon, and NJ.
The two new stores will bring the total of Amazon Books locations to fifteen.
