Sign up for My Course on Designing Book Covers

Who wants to learn how to design a book cover?

I have gotten a lot of positive feedback on my recent post on basic book covers, and that has inspired me to take what I have learned about book covers and build a course which teaches how to anyone can use free online tools to make book covers.

I plan to launch the course in January, but I am opening up a mailing list today so that anyone who wants to take the course can sign up to be notified.

Here’s the form.

The course will be delivered as  series of emails. It will start with a primer on copyright, and then move on to:

  • how to research current book cover trends, and draw inspiration from existing designs
  • awareness of sexist and racist imagery
  • the proper use of fonts
  •  a basic primer on image filters
  • visual composition, or how to add multiple elements to a cover without ruining it

I plan to add more lessons to the course, but before I can do that I will have to teach myself first.

If you are interested, please sign up.

P.S. If you know where I can find a course on designing book covers, please let me know. I want to learn more so I can then pass on my knowledge.

Dean Wesley Smith teaches a course which I have taken and highly recommend.

It’s $300, and has limited enrollment because Dean gives a lot of feedback. I want to take it but I don’t know that I can afford it.
