Amazon to Open Bookstore Outside of Boise, Idaho

Amazon currently has 15 bookstores, including the one that just opened in DC, and soon they will open one in a suburb of Idaho’s state capitol.

Meridian Press reports that a building permit was filed on Amazon’s behalf at The Village at Meridian, an upscale open air shopping development in Meridian, Idaho.

A new Amazon Books store could be coming to The Village at Meridian.

A building permit application was filed with the city of Meridian on March 15 for an interior tenant improvement in an existing retail space for Amazon Books. The building permit application was obtained by the Meridian Press through a public records request.

The permit shows the new store is planned for a 4,000-square-foot corner space previously occupied by Robert Comstock and Paperie and Pen before that.

Although the permit application was filed with the city, Amber Lovotti, spokeswoman for The Village, said there are no new tenant announcements to make at this time. Amazon has not responded to an emailed request for comment sent March 15.

Amazon does not have any pop-up stores in Idaho, but there is a Whole Foods in Boise. And coincidentally, the new Amazon Books will be located about 4 miles from a Barnes & Noble store.

Counting 15 existing stores, the 3 stores under construction, and the rumored store in Atlanta, this will be the 20th Amazon Books location.
