Why Wait for Prime Day? $39 Fire HD 8, $69 Kindle Paperwhite e-Reading Hardware Fire Kindle

Amazon's big sale day is still a week away, but there's no reason to wait. The retailer has lowered the price on several Kindle and Fire tablet models.

Prime members can get the Fire HD 8, Fire HD 10, and Kindle Paperwhite today for $25 to $30 off the regular prices for the refurbished units.  You can also find a refurbished Voyage for $20 off, but that isn't a good deal considering Amazon was selling new models at that price a short time ago.

All the models are refurbished, and the deals are only available to Prime members, but the deals are pretty good - I got a Fire HD 8 for my mother to replace her 2012-era Fire HD 8.9. (I originally tried to get a Show Mode dock as a free review unit but Amazon said no, so this was great timing for me.)

The deals on Kindle Unlimited, Audible, and Amazon Music are still active as well:

Amazon Prime costs $119 per year or $12.99 per month in the US, and if you sign up before Prime Day next week you can take advantage of more Prime deals.

Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader:"I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
