InkBook Explore Features a 7.8" Screen, Runs Android 4.4.2 e-Reading Hardware The Polish ereader importer Artatech is launching a plus-sized ereader under its InkBook brand.

InkBook Explore is a rather disappointing Android ereader that has the same size screen as the Aura One. It runs an old version of Android on a single-core CPU, and it is selling for 899 Polish Zlotny, or about $243 USD.

The Explore even has a color changing frontlight, programmable page turn buttons, and you can install your own apps, but the weak CPU and old OS mean that you won't be able to do much with the apps you install.

  • CPU: 1GHz single core
  • RAM: 1GB
  • OS: Android 4.4.2
  • Storage: 8GB internal, microSD card slot
  • Screen: 7.8", 300 PPI, with frontlight and touchscreen
  • Connectivity: Wifi, BT
  • Weight: 242 grams

Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader:"I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
