Morning Coffee - 31 August 2018 Morning Coffee

Here are a few stories to read this Friday morning.

About Nate Hoffelder (9910 Articles)
Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader:"I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."

  1. Nate,
Good advice about the publisher happens to be owned by the big 5. I’d add take a look at who owns the publishing company in the ABOUT US section. Also, if they use the big buzz word salad by random jargon generator, run away.

    • actually, that was just me snarking about how most of the Big 5 front for Author Solutions.

      • Nate,

But the snark is still a sharp observation. It’s very annoying that tradpub seems to sucker aspiring authours with dubious promises. A very good reason to self publish at least you succeed or fail on your own.

  2. If they can’t get their cut the old way (with a bad contract) trad-pub will shaft the indie writer by seeing how much Author Solutions can milk out of them … 😉
