Amazon is set to open its newest bookstore today in Denver.
The new Amazon Books is located at 2787 E. 2nd Ave. It occupies the sole retail space in a brand new 8-story office building in the Cherry Creek neighborhood of Denver, and can be found just down the road from an Amazon Pop-up store. The new Amazon Books location had been rumored to be under consideration since last February, and then in August the retailer filed for construction permits to finish building out the space.
Amazon told Business Den this week that the Cherry Creek will carry titles titles that are particularly popular in the Denver area — non-fiction titles such as Educated, Dare to Lead, and Extreme Ownership, and fiction titles such as The Great Alone, Little Fires Everywhere, and Beneath the Scarlett Sky. The store will also stock a selection of Amazon products such as Fire tablets and smart speakers, as well as other merchandise.
This store comes as a surprise to this blogger because in the past few months Amazon had abandoned plans for no fewer than 3 Amazon Books stores in Atlanta, Denver, and Boise. The Denver store was changed into an Amazon 4-Star, while the other two locations were simply canceled. This raised questions whether Amazon would open any new bookstores or focus on its other retail efforts.
In addition to Amazon Books, Amazon also owns Amazon Pop-up stores, which carry Kindles, Echos, and other Amazon hardware; Amazon Go, an automated convenience store concept with 10 locations across the US, and Amazon 4-Star, which sells products that were rated highly on Amazon.com. The company also owns Whole Foods.
How do I get Amazon to put my book on their shelves?
thanks
