My recent post on authors selling ebooks at book festivals got me thinking about the many options we have to do so. We can buy from our computer, phone, tablet, or pretty much anything with a web browser. We can even buy them in person.
Almost all ereaders like the Boox or the Kindle have a built-in store. In fact, in 2019 ereaders without an integrated store are the exception, not the rule.
Alas, even though the Kindle has had an integrated store for over a decade, it’s still frustrating to use. I find browsing for ebooks on the Kindle a lot slower and more tedious than on a computer. The sorting and filtering options are usually more limited than in a regular web browser, and that makes it harder to find what I’m looking for.
I have also found browsing the Kindle Store (and other ebook store, for that matter) from the Kindle Fire, or from the Kindle app on my phone, to be frustrating enough that I almost always buy ebooks from my computer.
So how about you? How do you like to buy your ebooks?
