Likebook Alita has 4GB RAM, 10.3″ Carta E-ink Screen

Boyue just sent me their next 10.3″ ereader. It’s called the Likebook Alita, and it has gotten this burned-out blogger excited about ereaders again.

The Likebook Alita is the next model in the Boyue product line after the Likebook Mimas. While the Alita has the same screen size and runs the same OS as the Mimas, the hardware also differs significantly.

For starters, the Alita also has a flush front, and an invisible home button. It also has speakers. It has twice the RAM (4GB) and more internal storage (27GB – a nominal 32GB?). I did not find a card slot, but Boyue said that the slot is hidden like a SIM card slot, so maybe the non-button I found on one edge is actually the card slot.T

In terms of software, I can confirm that the Alita’s handwriting recognition features worked reasonably well with my chicken scratches. I’ve also been told that Boyue will be releasing an Android 8 firmware this September.

I do not have a release date for the Alita, but based on what I have seen I think it’s worth keeping an eye out.

Hey you. You were the one who poo-pooed my excitement over the Likebook Mars by saying their software bug-ridden. So it takes graft to change your mind? Bah!

Surprised at this development as well.

Can you check, whether there is a card slot? Did that "non-button" look like a SIM card slot, that you open with a paper-clip?

Nate Hoffelder June 10, 2019 um 8:01 pm

there is a hole for the paperclip, but I don’t have anything to stick in it

For god’s sake, man. Do you live near any stores that sell phones? Ask to use a SIM eject tool!

Have you ever thought that his prior experiences were based on things seen, and the experience when held is quite different?

But that’s not possible, right?

Bah! My original comment was tongue-in-cheek. But if Nate is going to review this, he must have an accompanying YouTube video to back up his observations.

Chuck Dee June 13, 2019 um 12:21 pm

Ah… I missed your tongue-in-cheekness of the post, especially as there were two separate ones saying the same thing. Not enough emojis ? Sorry for the uncharitable reading of your post.

Nate Hoffelder June 13, 2019 um 8:57 pm

he was giving me grief, yes

Mike Cane June 14, 2019 um 6:04 am

Emojis? I never use them.

This review is not very helpful. I was expecting some details.

Nate Hoffelder August 27, 2019 um 1:12 pm

It is an announcement, not a review

Vicente November 18, 2019 um 1:06 pm

If you received this item long ago, why haven’t you reviewed it yet?

Vicente November 20, 2019 um 7:59 am

Excuse me, but I insist: why haven’t you reviewed this device. Is it broken?
