Amazon Adds New Filter Option in Kindle Firmware Update 5.11.2

Amazon rolled out an update for its Kindle ereaders on Friday.

A few months ago Amazon gave you the option of sorting your library by read/unread, and now you can sort by whether an ebook is a sample or was borrowed through KU or Prime Reading.

The update will be distributed automatically, but if you would like to download it, head on over to Amazon.

Here’s what’s new:

  • Filter Enhancements: Filter your library to see just Kindle Unlimited, Prime Reading items, and Samples with a single click.
  • Performance improvements, bug fixes, and other general enhancements.

The read/unread filter is very useful but they really should add (the classic) genre filters. They already have the data in the store anyway so filtering fiction/non-fiction and filtering romance, mystery, thriller, SF&F, and other would be easy to implement by looking at the tags.
