Amazon Celebrates Tenth Anniversary of Amazon Prime With Numbers, But Leaves Out the Most important One
In recognition of the 10th anniversary of its customer loyalty program, Amazon released an infographic today which shares a few details on Amazon Prime.
Tell me if you see what is missing:
Amazon continues to be vague on the point of the actual membership count, saying only that there are "tens of millions of members".
The closest we’ve gotten to a firm figure was last January when Amazon reportedly confirmed they had over 20 million Prime subscribers. Amazon also said in late December 2014 that 10 million customers had tried Prime for the first time (of course that doesn’t mean that they stuck with the service past the trial period).
The latest analyst prediction is that Amazon Prime has 40 million members. I would take that WAG with a grain of salt; in September, another analyst concluded that Amazon Prime had 50 million members.
Since both are largely based on guesses, I’m not taking either seriously.
