Amazon: Spend $20 on eBooks and Get a $5 Credit

Amazon is running a sale today in the Kindle Store. This is their third straight one-day sale, and this time they are offering a $5 credit to anyone who buys $20 in ebooks.

You have to buy the ebooks before 28 January and you must also accept the credit by visiting the link below and clicking the "activate" button on the relevant page on Amazon.com.

I limit my impulse purchases to 99ยข for fiction and $1.99 for non-fiction – rarely double that for topics or authors I enjoy. My wishlist holds titles pending sale specials.

That said, the incentive had the intended effect, relaxing my normal behavior because I felt like I was saving extra. So I purchased Field & Stream’s "The Total Outdoorsman Manual" at $5.58 and P. L. Travers' "Mary Poppins 80th. Anniversary Collection" at $6.64 plus $3.49 for the companion Audible book.

I applied my $5 "savings" against Tom Baker’s "Scratchman" at $13.49 plus $7.47 for the Audible companion – a purchase I could never have countenanced without the inducement…
