CVS shipped me the wrong Sylvania tablet

Yesterday I got my Sylvania 7″ tablet and as I am wont to do I posted about my first impressions. Then I started looking for more info on the tablet (I was hoping for a hacked firmware) and I found something rather interesting.

There are actually several models floating around under the one name. If you buy one you won’t know quite which one you get until you open the box. While looking into this tablet I found that at least 1 version based on this shell  had HDMI out. I also know that my unit has the label for HDMI but no port.

Guess what? My unit is actually supposed to have HDMI out. That’s what the specs show on CVS shipped me the wrong tablet.

It worries me that the tablets are so similar and the box design is so similar that I could get the wrong tablet and not have anyone realize it. What’s worse is that there’s no mention of the multiple models on the support website. If they’re that sloppy about supporting the tablet then how good are they at making it?

P.S. But this is just a minor snafu compared to the hardware problems.

Mine also doesn’t have HDMI out port even though it is labeled on the device. The firmware indicates it is DG2.01 not the DG2.10 which is advertised.
CVS must be dumping old outdated stock, which would account for the low price.

"CVS shipped me the wrong tablet."

It is loose wording like this that I can’t stand.

I don’t understand how it’s loose.

They shipped you a tablet that was not according to the listed specifications. Shipping the wrong tablet implies walgreen can exchange it for another sylvannia tablet with hdmi. And if you believe that…….

CVs is trying to see if it can exchange it, yes. The HDMI tablet does exist.

I purchased 2 of these from CVSand have had these peoblems and more. Yes, the OS needs to be updated (but it would not) Mine was missing the HDMI port as well. The screen calibration sucks. So does the built in keyboard. I contacted support and was not called back for 3 days. Only to be told to wait for the fix to be released at the end of the month. NOTI started and email support session and it takes 2 days for replys. But after 4 weeks they (support) replaced both of the tablets with the correct tablet with hdmi, android 2.2, and a position sensor that changes screen orientation automaticaly. The new tablets still have problems with keyboard use where the wrong key shows even after calibration. And you better have a Mini SD card to use with this tablet or you can’t download anything or instsall any new applications. I had to do this message on a external keyboard because of the crapy calibration. Oh yea and if you want to use an external keyboard, use the adaptor for usb and the "HOST" port. Good luck
