Morning Coffee 3 January 2021
Here are a few stories to read this first Monday in 2021.
- Huff Post has rounded up the biggest literary scandals of 2020. (they missed B&N’s contribution to Black History Month)
- Teleread published a great overview of classics which passed into the public domain in the US last Friday.
- eBook license fees are killing public libraries.
- That hilarious Dr Suess Star Trek mashup has been found to not be protected by fair use (a reasonable decision, IMO).
- Japan has expanded its criminal piracy laws.
- A Korean ebook service has revived the idea of tracking a reader’s eye movements, and using that to trigger page turns. It’s interesting to see it being tried again, but something tells me that it’s still not going to catch on.
- It’s okay if you didn’t read this year.
P.S. If you need a tech VA or help with your website, email me at [email protected] Got a story that I should include in next week’s list? Shoot me an email.
