The Next3 Android tablet reappears as the Prestigio Multipad

Prestigio announced a new Android tablet last week, and I swear that it looks the same as the Next3.

The Prestigio PMP3084B is based on an 8.4″ (800×600) screen, and it runs Android v2.1 on a 700MHz Rockchip CPU. It has 4GB Flash, a SD card slot, Wifi, and an accelerometer. Format support includes:

  • eBook Formats EPUB, PDF (DRM), TXT, FB2
  • Audio Formats MP 3, AAC, WAV, OGG, WMA, LAC, APE
  • Video Formats A VI, 3GP, MP4, RM, RMVB, FLV, MKV, MOV

The specs might not look like much, but I think it will be a cheap but decent Android  tablet. I’m not so interested in it as an ereader, though,  because none of the Android reading apps are designed to work well on such a large screen. But PDFs should be very good.

WUT? Aldiko is pre-installed on the Archos 7″ & 10″ tablets and works just fine. Even prior to 2.0, it was tested on a 10″ screen and worked.

Does it do 2 columns? It didn’t on my 9″ Pandigital.

I think I’ll write a post about this. Thanks.
