PressReader released a new version of their Android app today. It's been optimized for tablets, and it requires v2.2 at a minimum.
PressReader for Honeycomb makes better use of the larger screen sizes and more robust hardware offered by the Honeycomb platform. Key features include: a more immersive reading interface, automatic daily download, high-performance navigation using thumbnails or tables of contents, intuitive reading experience (flip, pan, rotate and zoom articles and photos), TTS, and sharing links by email or Facebook.
PressReader allows for subscription based access to over 1,800 full-content newspapers and magazines from 95 countries in 48 languages. You can see the available selection on www.pressdisplay.com. You can find both versions of the app in the Android Market, and you can also find the earlier non-Honeycomb version in the Amazon Appstore. The older version requires v2.1.
Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader:
"I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
