Library eBooks Now Available on the Nook Tablet, Nook Color

Library eBooks Now Available on the Nook Tablet, Nook Color e-Reading Software Library eBooks When B&N decided to limit app installs the Nook Color and Nook Tablet they cut the media devices off from some of the more basic reading activities like easily checking ebooks out of the library.

While you still could transfer library audiobooks and ebooks to the Nook, the easiest trick is to use OverDrive's own Android app to find and download the content. This is the singlt most widely used library ebook distributor, and they have over 19 thousand partner libraries around the world. That's why I have been wanting, for nearly a year now, to see this app available in the Nook App Store.

And today it is. I just got a Facebook update from a B&N insider with a link to the new listing in the Nook App Store.

I have not tested it yet, but it should work just like the OD Android app. You can search for libraries, find content you want to checkout, log-in, and download it - all from inside the app.

Finally!! I have been using this app in my NOOKcolor with the CM7 sd mini card and my Vizio tablet and love it.
OTA library book download is awesome. I DO NOT ever intend to use ADE ever again.
Without doing some research I mistakenly purchased an ebook from an ebook web site and had to load it thru ADE. Boy, was I ticked off. ADE is worthless.
    Overdrive 9 million thumbs up!

I just bought Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD 8.9″ thinking OverDrive’s “own” Android app would work for downloading ebooks from our local library. Wrong! The application downloads, but will not install, meaning the only way to use OverDrive is for Kindle books, with Amazon (and OverDrive?) accessing all one’s (otherwise) private reading data.

Hopefully this will not happen on the Nook, which I understand uses the more-compressed (and thus more desirable) epub format. And perhaps B&N, unlike Amazon, won’t mind working with Adobe on DRM, which one Amazon forum writer says may be the issue with Amazon’s refusal to incorporate this format.

    Good luck!
