Amazon Author Insights Has Tips for Indie Authors

There are many experts who can help authors get published, and now Amazon has gathered all that advice on a single site.

Currently in beta, Amazon Author Insights features the advice of many published authors including Hugh Howey, Joanna Penn, Bryan Cohen, and Elizabeth S Craig as well as a number of articles by Amazon's staff (under the byline Kindle Press).

The site is hosted on Tumblr, and is divided into three sections: Write, Publish, and Market. There's also a fourth section which claims to focus on tools and services, but really just lists various Amazon services (KDP, Createspace, Kindle scout, Goodreads, etc).

Amazon has not announced the site yet, and it's not clear what they're trying to accomplish here.  But the articles I read all contained sound advice, so the site is definitely worth checking out.

About Nate Hoffelder (10619 Articles)
Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader:"I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."

  1. “…but really just lists various Amazon services (KDP, Createspace, Kindle scout, Goodreads, etc).”

Not seeing any mention of CreateSpace. Clearly Amazon wants indies using KDP Publishing, and intends to keep CreateSpace for its POD arm for “publishers.”

  2. Of interest only to me: Amazon used Bookerly as its font for the site.
