Amazon Launches Weekly Literary Magazine for the Kindle Called Day One
Day One, which was initially announced in March as a short fiction publishing imprint, is going to be published weekly and will only be available in the Kindle Store. It will include poetry, works from debut authors, and stories from around the world translated into English.
This magazine, which could arguably be considered a subscription-based extension of the Kindle Single Store, is produced by Amazon Publishing. It will showcase one writer and one poet in each weekly issue. The first issue is available today and features the short story Sheila by Rebecca Adams Wright, and Wrought, a poem by Zack Strait.
Day One will cost $20 for an annual subscription, and is currently available at an introductory price of $9.99.
Amazon has long been rumored to be planning to launch more blogs, but this is probably not what anyone was picturing when that rumor circulated. But even so, Day One will give Amazon a toehold in yet another part of the publishing industry.
