E-ink’s New JustWrite Screen Tech is Intended to Let You Write with Near-Zero Latency
E-ink has developed a new screen tech that could one day replace notepads or compliment Wacom tablets, but it is being weirdly passive aggressive in promoting it.
What we do know is that this is less a display than a writing film like the Boogie Board. That tech was powered by a button battery inside the board, but JustWrite is powered by the stylus which has some type of magnetic charge (possibly battery powered, but maybe not).
E-ink showed it off last Friday at Connected Ink 2018 in Japan. There’s no word yet on when it will be shipped to consumers, nor do we really know how it works.
According to the press release, its features include:
- Digitizer Compatible (Optional)
- Extremely Low Power
- Reflective display without a backlight
- Bendable and conformable
- Any shape (including with holes)
- Any size up to 3’ width
- Natural writing experience with good contrast
- Variety of writing styles
— Pen / Pencil
I am currently trying to find out more.
