Android on the Ectaco Jetbook

The Jetbook development community (it's one guy who goes by the username gr8npwrfl) has announced that Android is running on the Jetbook. He hasn't posted any pictures yet. From MobileRead:

I made a major breakthrough today !!

I got the signon screen up and running on the jetbook running Android 2.0 !

Now I have to figure how to get the multi-touch touchscreen working then we are styling. I have no way to input commands to the jetbook at this time. I am digging into the usb driver for the dragonball processor that is used in the jetbook to see if I can turn on the USB host, If I can get that running I will be able to control HID devices like keyboards and mice.

The Ectaco Jetbook is a dedicated ebook reader with a 5" low power LCD screen. It's available online with a retail of $179 from Fry's, Newegg, and others. I have one myself; it's a very nice basic ebook reader, though limited in features.

Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader: "I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
