MediaBistro Likes Piracy

This just came through my RSS feed, and I'm shocked that they posted it. I had thought that MediaBistro was a reputable company. Here is the post:

We told you months ago about an online 2666 reading group, which is still going strong and is on its eighth week of reading. There was only one problem--while you could discuss the book electronically, you couldn't read it that way: there was no Bolano eBook--until now!

A tipster told us about this, a pirated electronic copy of 2666 as a TXT file. It ain't the easiest thing in the world to read, but if you fiddle a bit with the file, you'll find a way.

Download it quick, before someone official has it taken down (forgive us if that happens).

I removed the link.

Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader: "I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
