N618 – new e-reader from 4fff

No, I didn't get the company name wrong (I think). I found another reseller of the BenQ Qisda QD060b00. Some time back I showed you the FCC paperwork.

It has Wifi, touchscreen, 2Gb Flash, SDHC card slot, web browser, email. Ebook format support includes:

  • PDF
  • Epub
  • RTF
  • HTML
  • TXT

This device is the only one on the market with a Sipix screen, and it will likely be the only one until at least August. Jinke is supposed to release their Sipix based ereaders, but they've been delayed. Also, Bookeen Orizon is going to have a Sipix screen, but we may never see it. I've heard a rumor that the Orizon is going to be replaced with a different model.

P.S. This ereader is also being sold in Spain and Italy.

P.P.S. I went digging through my archive and I found this video. It shows the same hardware but from a different reseller.

Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader: "I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
