eReader maker Interead has closed their doors

Editor's Note: I'm posting this story without direct confirmation. I've waited 2 hours for my contacts with Interead to deny the story and they have not. I guess they're not there to answer the emails, which is good enough for me. is reporting that Interead, maker of the Cool-ER ereader, have gone into liquidation. They do not have direct confirmation, only an email received by one of Interead's customers:

Hello, I am sorry to say that the company went into liquidation.
Regards ,

Shoot. They had promised to lend me the Cool-ER Connect when it came out in September.

TBH, I'm not all that surprised. Aside from the colorful cases the Cool-ER was just an ordinary Netronix EB-600. It really had little to recommend it, and once the Kobo ereader came out the Cool-ER was, well, not doomed but definitely in dire straights.

Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader:"I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
