Interactive displays will allow customers to experience the product before they buy and to learn more about the new generation Kindle which recently launched to rave reviews from the New York Times, Wired, CNET, PC World, PC Magazine, and more.

Kindle is's best-selling product, a reading device that wirelessly downloads books, magazines, newspapers, blogs, and personal documents to a crisp, high-resolution electronic paper display that looks and reads like real paper, even in bright sunlight. The all-new Kindle has a new electronic-ink screen with 50 percent better contrast, is 21 percent smaller and 15 percent lighter, boasts 20 percent faster page turns, up to one month of battery life with wireless off, double the storage to 3,500 books, and more -- all for only $139.

Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."

6 Comments on Staples to sell the Kindle

  1. That’s, what? 1800 stores?
So much for needing B&M retail presence.

  2. Actually, Staples sells the Sony devices and has for quite some time. Saw them for sale there yesterday.

  3. Really. The Sony’s have even appeared in Staples’ Sunday circulars in my area on occasion. doesn’t seem to have the Readers but does have Reader accessories. Maybe they are replacing the Sonys with Kindles.

    • Rich, I didn’t mean to sound like I didn’t beleive you. I just hadn’t seen them.

      • Hmmm… if it’s any consolation, I never saw them at a lower Manhattan Staples I frequent. But then they never carried the Dell Mini netbook there, either. Said it was at an uptown store. Perhaps the Sonys were too.
