KDDI plan to expand e-reader line

Bloomberg are reporting:

KDDI Corp.’s e-book venture with Sony Corp., Asahi Shimbun Publishing Co. and Toppan Printing Co. is in talks with hardware makers to expand its lineup of reader devices to compete with Apple Inc.’s iPad.

“Various negotiations are under way, and we’re hoping to have something concrete by the end of the year,” Toshitake Amamiya, who heads the e-book business at KDDI, said in an interview today. Amamiya declined to name the companies.

It's not your imagination; the news really is that thin.  Basically you could have stopped reading at the title.

P.S. I don't like the way most sites fluff out an article, don't you?

Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader: "I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
