Apple’s App Stores hit 1b downloads

Apple have been running a counter on their homepage, and early this morning it clocked 10 billion. That's 10 BILLION with a b iPhone, iPad, and OSX apps downloaded from the various app stores. Impressive, no?As I recall, the last major milestone was 3 billion downloads in January 2010, and before that was 1 billion downloads in September 2009. The lucky person who downloaded the 10 billionth app has won a $10,000 iTunes gift card, and Apple plan to announce the winner  shortly.

Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader: "I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
