Funny or Die to branch out into books

Funny or Die, the online-video site founded by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay in 2007, will be launching a book publishing arm. The imprint's name will be Funny or Die Books, and it follows in the footsteps of ForD forays into television and movies (Funny or Die Presents is in the middle of its second season on HBO, and they're working on their first movie, Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie).

The books will have a print edition, but they are also planning enhanced ebooks. The technical details haven't been decided yet, but they do plan to  have original video embedded in the ebooks.

The first project will be an ebook satirizing the world of celebrity, written by humorist Mike Sacks. It should be released in July, but price and format has not been set.

Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader:"I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
