iPad Mini vs …

The iPad Mini has been talked about a lot, but have you over wondered how big it really is? I have, and I wish I had thought of the trick Mike Cane posted earlier today. He printed out the paper iPad Mini that has been floating around the web and compared it to a number of different tablets. While that paper iPad Mini is just one blogger's guess about its dimensions, it does raise some interesting possibilities. There's a gallery of comparison shots below, and if you hover the cursor over each photo you'll see what the papercraft tablet is being compared to.

I have to agree with Mike; the Archos G9, with its 8" screen is pretty close to being the exact size as the iPad Mini's rumored 7.85" screen. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is darn near the same size, though.

BTW, you might notice that the paper iPad Mini has noticeably different dimensions from the engineering prop which showed up yesterday. This one's not nearly as tall, but then again it is based on one bloggers guess about the dimensions.
I'm looking forward to finding out how close his guess really is.

Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
