BookBale Offers 6 Great SF Titles in Pay-What-You-Want Bundle – With a Bonus

b-JesusIncidentMaryland's own Arc Manor publishing house is getting into the ebook bundle market. Last month they debuted a new ebook bundle website called BookBale, and their first bundle is available now. The basic bundle includes 5 SF (and one fantasy) titles, and you can get it by paying any amount more than $3. If you fork over $10 or more you can also get the 2 bonus titles. All the ebooks are offered DRM-free and you can download either Epub or Kindle formats.

This bundle includes a surprisingly good collection of books, and I am basing that judgement on the fact that I own 5 of the ebooks. The basic bundle includes:

  • The Jesus Incident by Frank Herbert & Bill Ransom
  • Climbing Olympus by Kevin J. Anderson
  • Birthright: The Book of Man by Mike Resnick
  • Starplex by Robert J. Sawyer
  • Future Perfect by Nancy Kress
  • The Elvenbane by Mercedes Lackey & Andre Norton

If you pay at least $10, you also get:

  • The Hemingway Hoax by Joe Haldeman
  • Citizen of the Galaxy by Robert Heinlein

As you can see there are no recent releases in this bundle, but it does include 3 ebooks that I would describe as classics: Citizen, Jesus Incident, and Birthright. That last title is particularly worth buying if you are interested in galaxy sweeping space opera on the scale of Asimov's Foundation series; Birthright chronicles the rise and fall of Mankind over a period of 18 thousand years.

I bought my copy at Fictionwise years and years ago, so I have no reason to get this bundle. But I can still add that I think it is worth it.

This bundle is available until the end of the month.

Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader: "I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
