Antoine de Saint-Exupéry: His Life

Antoine Marie Jean-Baptiste Roger de Saint-Exupéry was born in Lyon, France on June 29, 1900, and went missing during his flight bound for Grenoble on July 31, 1944.

As a child he had his first experiences flying. Later, he completed his military service in Strasbourg and trained as an aircraft mechanic. He also took private flying lessons to train as a pilot.

In 1927, he worked as an airfield chief on Cape Juby in Morocco for 18 months. There he wrote his first novel, entitled Southern Carrier.

He continued his education and wrote about his experience and his breakthrough as an author came after the publication of his novel Night Flight in December 1930.
